The study "Exploring support provision for recovery from substance use disorder among members of a sober active community" investigates the role of social support within the sober community. This study was conducted with members of The Phoenix, a non-profit organization aimed at facilitating recovery from substance use disorders (SUDs) through social connection and active engagement.
Using online surveys and in-depth interviews, the researchers analyzed data from 79 participants, focusing on their social networks and the support they receive in recovery. The study highlights the importance of social support in recovery and suggests that community-based initiatives like The Phoenix can effectively foster the connections necessary for sustained recovery.
These results add empirical evidence to the notion that such support systems are crucial in preventing relapse and enhancing overall well-being among individuals recovering from SUDs.
